After our office filed a Motion for Discovery and threatened to go to a judge for an order compelling the disclosure of the state’s case, the District Attorney agreed to dismiss drug trafficking charges against our client for lack of any evidence. Our client spent more than a month in jail with an ICE detainer and no possibility of bond. Today, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agreed to lift the detainer on her, and this evening she is home with her family.
Helen represents clients facing criminal charges in both state and federal court. She is a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel of attorneys in the Middle District of North Carolina, and is admitted to practice before the Eastern, Middle and Western District Federal Courts as well as the Fourth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal.
